Pundit Deenanath Shashtri is 80 years old but still has the ‘rubab’ (grace & dignity) of an active mukhiya. Baba, (as he is called by the family), spent his life with utmost honesty and principles. Fought for freedom. He never compromised on principles. His wife has died an untimely death due to a Cholera epidemic when she was very young. He raised two sons, a daughter all by himself on a mere salary of Rs.5000 a month. Today both his sons are married; he has three grandsons and one grand daughters. But, this most respected Brahmin family’s dreams shatter when Adi brings home a woman saying she is his wife, as they are fixing his wedding with Sulekha. Despite the entire family’s opposition, Baba puts his foot down and accepts the girl as his own daughter. The family compromises and Sulekha is left High & Dry and from here begins a terrifying tale that will have worst affect on everyone living in that house. A war between two women. One a positive force, the other an evil energy.

Upon entering the house Shubhra starts hallucinating, which is detested by everyone in the house. Only Baba, Vishnu Kaka, and Priya help her calm down. She says that she won’t celebrate suhaag raat, as that will paralyze Adinath permanently. However Adi who is unaware of this enters his wife’s room that night only to accidentally catch fire. He gets paralyzed and becomes a vegetable.

Hereafter Shubhra sees all the calamities befalling on the house before it actually happens. But everything she says is taken otherwise. Sulekha though the root cause of all the disturbances, gains sympathy.Then the events start happening one after the other. Priya, granddaughter runs away with a Christian boy. Bal Kaka loses a court case and, therefore, his ambitious business venture. Madhusudan’s ghastly and illicit love affair is exposed.Shubhra, the Dhakti sun, has seen this entire happening in her dreams, therefore gets labeled as a woman with bad omen and a witch, the one who brings misfortune to the family.Shubhra can’t figure out what is suddenly happening to her. While the family is busy trying to throw her out she tries her own little theories with Vishnu Kaka, Priya, and Ajay, who are the only people on her side. Bad times shower on the family. She tries to warn them about it as she has seen all this in her dreams, but her revelations scare all the women in the house who are by now sure that she is a ‘hadal’. Relationships, business and general health starts deteriorating and Shubhra is blamed for it, Sulekha who is actually s behind all this seems to behaving the last laugh. If this was not enough, Baba dies leaving his entire wealth to Shubhra.

Shubhra, along with her husband Adinath finds herself in the midst of women of the family, who terrified and scared of her and won’t stand up for her and the machinations of Sulekha. In sheer desperation she meets a psychiatrist with Ajay’s help. Dr. Viraj Samant sympathizes with Shubhra and starts treating her. But they don’t seem to land up anywhere. Meanwhile the dreams continue to haunt her. Dr. Samant by this time has witnessed the torture that Shubhra is going through decides to try hypnotism. He takes her back to her childhood through a few sessions and then one day suddenly the reality starts showing up. Shubhra in her hypnotic trance starts speaking of all the things from her dreams. Success at last thinks Dr. Samant, only he has not realized that Shubhra has gone back in to her previous lifetime. She was once again the sun of the very same house in which she is so hated. Then too, she was married to the youngest son. She was young and beautiful but childless. She love Dinnu her younger brother-in-law like a mother. Dinnu is also crazy about vahini. In the same village lives a witch Indumati (Sulekha) who is trying to steal the family fortunes. Parvati (Shubhra) tried to stop her. But Indumati got out of hand. Finally Parvati sacrificed her life to save the family. Indumati vowed to come back. Parvati also vowed that every time Indumati comes back, she will be back too to protect her family.

Lastly however as promised to young Deenanath, Shubhra sacrifices her honor and her life to restore family’s dignity, honor, peace and happiness.
